It’s a terrible experience to be in captivity for over 66 days, imagine the kind of terror, the kind of torment that an innocent soul will be forced into. This is inhumane and those responsible to this kind of act should be brought to justice.
It’s a brief story about someone’s experience and the part of the second person has been cut out because it was a phone call conversation not an interview, and the focus is maintained just on the person of interest till the end of the conversation.
We thank God since He saved us from this misery. The second person was congratulating him while the conversation was going on and he insisted that God is the savior. Expression upon the experience he just had was that the story is a good one for him, indeed the story is sweet at my side. I swear to God, whosoever knew where is been called Gadar Yellow (Yellow's bridge), Gadar Gyadi (Gyadi's bridge), and that of Shadi or the most popular place called Birnin su/Kuyan Bana (these are the name of the popular hideouts of these notorious bandits).
I swear to whom my breath is with, those hideouts have been destroyed by the army today (no specific date provided of this event but the operation happened in the month of June 2020). As I am telling you now, if your days in this world are not taken by God then no-one can take it, that's it!
There's no other long explanation that I can give to anyone about my survival from the hands of these bad guy's except that my life belonged to the Higher power and He did save me from this captivity.
There are two places, where they kept us and the actual place they are staying, we are in two different places. When the fighter jets came, the bandits and everyone thought they were just surveilling as the usual helicopter’s use to come and hover over us and then go away. But this time was different, the first one that came wasn't the only one. Surprisingly not knowing to us another one was just behind it. Maybe the first was just coordinating the assault while the second one was to mount the attack and that was exactly what happened.
As you get to the exact location of Gadar Yellow, there's a small settlement there where the Yellow man is building (maybe building a house or something of that nature). I swear to God, today...? Those places have been destroyed completely. If you've never heard of a bomb blast, then you will think the sky is breaking into pieces and falling down unto you at the same time. If you know how bomb blast is, today my breath was going on and off. I don't want to ever witnessed such an event ever or even anyone I like to be in such situation as I was.
What made their ambush successful was that they didn't come in the afternoon or evening but, they came in earlier than 8 o'clock in the morning and it was at exactly that time they started the operation. When the bandits are vulnerable, when they haven't started anything including breakfast.
At the moment, all over my body is bruises and cuts from the stones and other sharp objects. I was crawling and falling into the bush while trying to escape from that horror.
The jet's came more than two time's for surveillance in previous day's but, this last time was the final one and the attack unknown to them. These place, is where the Bandits are with their families and whatever they needed. The hit was at exactly where they are which gave us the grace to run for our lives before the attack reached our exact location.
I was held captive for exactly sixty-six (66) days now at their mercy until today. I fainted more than three times when I was with them, they will assault me and the next thing is I have blacked out totally. The army took pictures of my body, itself is a story to tell. I'm glad that we get to see another day out of that misery and seeing them getting exactly what they deserved, it has been a long time coming I'm sure of it.
I've seen dead bodies, different sort of weapons, and I would've taken such items if I have a bad mind or something of that nature. I've jumped passed dead one's with gun's on their arms, those that their lives hang in the balance, and it was really a terrible experience. I knew when the operation is done at their side ours might be the next or there might be a problem. So I started running for my life before that happens. I was running and falling at the same time until I found myself out of that area.
Here's what I have been thinking while in captivity, if to say the army and the air force will join forces working together, then the kind of sweeping they will do to that place or any other place like that will be unimaginable. These Bandits came from different parts of the country and even neighboring borders. Especially from the northern part of Nigeria, some from Niger Republic, and in the northern Nigeria (Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna state), and Kwara state that's not even in the North. They came all together terrorizing people, killing, abducting, and other bad things. Nonetheless, today most of them are dead and those that escape may die in the wild unless if they get something to survive on because as it is they can't enter any nearby settlement.
